Yarmouk University, GIZ discuss Cooperation

Irbid, Yarmouk University President Zidane Kafafi on Thursday met a delegation from the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) headed by Christina Mueller, and stressed the university’s keenness to strengthen cooperation with various international institutions.

Kafafi discussed with the delegation an international project in which Yarmouk University is participating through the Studies Center of Refugees, Displaced Persons and Forced Migration.

The project aims to provide psychosocial support services to the refugees under a cooperation agreement between the two sides.

He point out the partnership between Yarmouk University and GIZ in serving refugees, based on the GIZ’s social responsibility towards Jordan to address the repercussions of the refugee crisis and contribute through its qualified capabilities to integrating refugees into host communities.

Mueller praised the outstanding scientific level of Yarmouk University and the accuracy and speed of completion in the project, the first training course of which will be held next September to prepare graduate students deal with refugees and those affected by the current crises.

She said the training will include a practical and field work in international and local organizations specialized in the fields of supporting refugees, pointing out that GIZ seeks to strengthen future research and scientific cooperation with Yarmouk University in a number of areas of mutual interest.
