UN holds open session on Palestine Thursday

New York, The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Thursday will hold an open session to discuss the situation and the latest developments in the Palestinian question .

During the session, the UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Nickolay Mladenov, will brief UNSC members on the latest negative developments on the ground, including peaceful return marches.

No statement or decision is expected to be issued after the session, as the U.S. has blocked two draft statements late March and early April expressing concern over Israeli use of force in Gaza.

The U.S. plans to open its new embassy in the occupied holy city of Jerusalem on May 14, a day before the “Great March of Return”.
