U.S. House passes bill for sanctions on Turkey

Washington, The US House of Representatives on Tuesday has overwhelmingly passed a bill imposing additional sanctions on Turkey over its recent attack in northern Syria.

The bill, passed with 403 votes to 16, is part of an effort by Democrats and many Republicans in Congress to persuade Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to agree to a cease-fire in Syria and end the attack on Kurdish forces in northern Syria.

The House of Representatives also voted overwhelmingly to recognize the mass killings of Armenians a century ago as a genocide, a symbolic but historic vote instantly denounced by Turkey.
