Trump attacks NATO member states

U.S. President, Donald Trump, attacked the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) members for spending too little on defence just one day before he flies to Brussels to attend what some fear will be a contentious NATO summit.

“The United States is spending far more on NATO than any other Country. This is not fair, nor is it acceptable,” Trump tweeted on Monday.

He added: “While these countries have been increasing their contributions since I took office, they must do much more,” noting that “NATO benefits Europe far more than it does the US.” Leaders of NATO member states will hold a summit in Brussels on July 11 and 12.
