Terrorist content online should be removed within one hour, says European Parliament

London, The European Parliament (EP) approved a draft version of a law aimed at preventing the spread of “terrorist content” online, giving internet companies a onehour deadline to remove offending content.

With 308 votes in favor to 204 against and 70 abstentions, the EP backed on Wednesday a proposal to tackle the misuse of internet hosting services for terrorist purposes, according to British media outlets.

Companies that systematically and persistently fail to abide by the law may be sanctioned with up to 4% of their global turnover, the outlets said.
