Beijing, Strong winds battering Chinese capital Beijing since Sunday, killed four people and caused widespread disruption to flights and rail services.
The Beijing Meteorological Bureau issued a blue gale warning, while five suburban districts of the city upgraded the alert to yellow later on, as they were hit by gales as high as 9 grades, which means the speed of wind topped 24.4 meters per second.
Strong winds knocked down trees, causing traffic jams in many parts of the capital . More than 100 flights were canceled or diverted to other airports and some trains arrived late as the rail facilities were destroyed by fallen trees.
The wind is expected to gradually abate by Monday night and the temperature is expected to reach as high as 35 degrees Celsius later this week.
