Senate President Faisal Fayez Wednesday discussed with Chinese Ambassador to Jordan Pan Weifang ways to boost relations in the economic and political fields.
Fayez lauded the advanced level of the Jordanian-Chinese ties, describing them as “distinguished.” He said the Kingdom is always keen on developing and enhancing them.
China is a strategic partner for Jordan, he affirmed, pointing to vital investments, including the oil shale project.
He said China also contributes to infrastructure and renewable energy projects, and a number of industrial projects, stressing keenness to increase Chinese investments in the Kingdom.
Fayez hailed the Chinese support to Jordan, calling for increasing it in light of the challenges Jordan faces due to the current regional situation, and to help the Kingdom bear the burden of Syrian refugees.
The Chinese envoy voiced pride in the level of bilateral ties, which are based on respect and mutual interests.
China is keen on building with Jordan stronger economic relations, which are a fundamental pillar for reconstruction in Syria and Iraq.
Weifang pointed out that his country is looking to expand relations with the Kingdom by providing humanitarian aid to Syrian refugees, and exploring broader economic potentials.
The meeting also tackled regional issues, namely the Palestinian cause and the Syrian crisis.
