Protests continue over draft income tax bill

Amman, Hundreds of protesters gathered near the Fourth Circle in Amman and in various regions of the Kingdom demanding the government to rescind a draft income tax bill it sent to the parliament last week.

The protesters, who chanted slogans stressing the peaceful nature of their rallies, called on the government to revisit the whole economic approach and also revisit amendments made to the civil service bylaw.

National figures and activists continues to urge that protesters maintain their commitment to public order and shun any acts of vandalism or violence. Protesters in Zarqa, Salt and Maan and elsewhere called for a more aggressive approach against corruption.
