Planning minister meets with Japanese, Canadian, German officials

Dead Sea, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Emad Najib Al-Fakhouri on Wednesday met with a number of delegations taking part in the annual meeting and business forum of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) held at the Dead Sea region.

Fakhoury met with State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Finance of Germany, Jorg Kukies and discussed with him how to provide Jordan with more affordable financing to help narrow the annual funding gap as well as to address the consequences of Syrian refugee crisis.

According to the Ministry of Planning, the German official showed its understanding of the burdens borne by Jordan, including the Kingdom’s request for more simplification of the rules of the origin.

Fakhouri also discussed with Japan’s State Minister of Finance Minoru Kihara ways to develop bilateral cooperation in light of the results of the recent visit of the Japanese Prime Minister to Jordan, including the request to provide easy funding support to Jordan to alleviate burdens on the budget.

The planning also discussed with Canada’s Deputy Minister of International Development and La Francophonie, Diane Jacovella, means of enhancing development cooperation between the two friendly countries in various fields.
