New York, The Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations, Ambassador Jamal Faris Al-Alrowaiei, stressed that achieving peace requires the continuous implementation of the provisions of the Charter of the United Nations and its purposes, the most important of which is non-interference in the internal affairs of States, respect for good neighbourliness, peaceful settlement of crises and enforcement of United Nations resolutions to preserve the sovereignty of States and safeguard the dignity and stability of their people.
This came as the Ambassador participated in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC)’s Open Debate on the Situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian issue.
Ambassador Jamal Al-Alrowaiei highlighted the efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain to protect maritime and aviation, find effective ways to address the growing threats and provide security for the countries of the region. In this regard, he referred to the important international military meeting hosted by the Kingdom last July and the Warsaw Process Working Group on Maritime and Aviation Security on October.
The Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations stressed that the establishment of a just, comprehensive and lasting peace in the region will not be achieved without solving the Palestinian issue and granting the brotherly Palestinian people their rights to establish an independent state along the borders of June 4, 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the Arab Peace Initiative, in accordance with the two-state solution and relevant international resolutions. He stressed that the Kingdom of Bahrain will spare no effort to achieve prosperity for the brotherly Palestinian people, calling upon the international community to fulfill its responsibilities, in committing Israel to implement the resolution. International.
Regarding the Syrian Arab Republic, the Ambassador noted the importance of preserving its independence and unity, and categorically rejecting occupation of any of its territory by any foreign forces. He stressed the need to reach a political solution in accordance with the Geneva Declaration 1 and the relevant United Nations resolutions. He also affirmed that the Golan Heights is occupied Arab Syrian territory in accordance with international resolutions issued in this regard.
On the Yemeni issue, the Permanent Representative noted the Kingdom’s commitment in the Arab Coalition to support legitimacy in Yemen to achieve the security and stability in the Republic of Yemen. He expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to unite all the national parties and the legitimate government in Yemen, to enable them to face the Houthi coup militia and others who pose a threat to the security and stability of Yemen and the region as a whole.
The Permanent Representative concluded by urging all people to adhere to the principles and purposes of the United Nations in order to achieve peace, prosperity and sustainable development in the world.
