Paris police brace for Labor Day rallies

Amman, More than 7,400 police and gendarmes will be deployed across Paris on Labor Day, amid threats from the “black blocs,” a group known for dressing in black and wearing face masks, to turn the city to “the capital of rioting,” French authorities said.

According to the French Press Agency (AFP), authorities said it will deploy security on an “exceptional scale” throughout the streets, while shop-owners board up their windows bracing for riots carried out by radical protestors.

Last year, Paris was caught off guard by some 1,200 trouble-makers who ran amok, vandalizing businesses and clashing with police.

Interior Minister Christophe Castaner said police gearing up for the arrival of up to 2,000 activists bristling for a fight.
