Palestinian government holds US, Israel responsible for Gaza escalation

Ramallah, The Palestinian cabinet on Tuesday condemned the “brutal massacre” by the Israeli occupation forces in the Gaza Strip in which over 60 Palestinians were shot and killed and thousands injured.

In its weekly meeting, the government of Prime Minister Rami al-Hamdallah said that the transfer to and opening of the US embassy in Jerusalem is a step not only in disregard and violation of the international law and international legitimacy resolutions, but one that also aims to incite the feelings of Palestinians as it coincides with the 70th anniversary of the Nakba, the catastrophe of the Palestinians displacement and expulsion from their homeland.

The cabinet stressed that the American decision is illegal and will not change the reality, adding that the celebration of the embassy opening is a “passing euphoria” as Jerusalem has throughout history been the key to war and peace in the region.
