Palestinian foreign ministry calls on investigating settlement crimes

Ramallah, The Palestinian Foreign Ministry called on the International Criminal Court (ICC) to quickly open an official investigation into the ongoing Israeli settlement crimes in the land of Palestine “before it is too late.”

The ministry, in a statement released on Sunday, said the settlement movement at the expense of the land of the State of Palestine is a test to credibility of the United Nations, and the international legitimacy, and its relevant resolutions, especially the failure to implement resolution 2334 that demands Israel to stop settlement in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the illegality of Israel’s settlements in the territory occupied since 1967.

This expansionist settlement coincided with public statements made by Israeli officials and leaders who are unanimous in their refusal to return to the 1967 borders, the statement pointed out.

The ministry said it is maintaining contacts and discussions with the ICC on the settlement file, in light of the continued settlement activity in various parts of the West Bank and in occupied East Jerusalem.
