Amman, The Jordanian Minister of Energy and Mineral
Resources, Hala Zawati, announced that Jordanian imports of Iraqi oil during
the month of April reached about 324 thousand barrels, at an average of 11,000
barrels per day.
She explained in a press statement today that the total imports of the Kingdom from the start of the process of shipping Iraqi oil to Jordan on the fifth of September 2019 until the end of last April amounted to about 2.44 million barrels, at 10,000 barrels per day.”
Regarding the mechanism of importing oil in light of the governmental measures to face the challenges of the spread of the new Corona virus epidemic, the Jordanian Minister said that “1114 Jordanian and Iraqi tanks participated in this process that is unloading Iraqi tanks in Jordanian tanks in the border area between the two countries, in compliance with the measures taken to reduce the outbreak of the new Corona virus. “
The import of oil from Iraq comes within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding between Iraq and Jordan, signed on February 2, 2019, which provides for the import of about 10,000 barrels per day, which constitutes 7% of the Kingdom’s needs.
