Amman, Minister of Education Azmi Mahafzah inaugurated on Sunday, in the presence of Minister of Public Works and Housing Yahya Kasbi and German Ambassador to Jordan Birgitta Siefker-Eberle, Um Qseir Comprehensive School for Girls in Al-Jeezah district in Amman.
The establishment of the school, which comprises 18 classrooms, and can accommodate 500 students from kindergarten to the secondary stage, comes as a result of the constructive cooperation between the German Development Bank (KfW) and Jordan.
Mahafzah stressed that the establishment of this school reflects the strong ties between Jordan and Germany, commending the German support of the educational sector in the kingdom.
It is noted that the German Development Bank financed 37 schools across the Kingdom.
The German ambassador, for her part, stressed her country’s support of Jordan’s educational sector, highlighting the strong relations between Jordan and Germany at various levels.
Stefan Zeeb, Director of the Bank’s Middle East Department outlined educational challenges that Jordan faces, noting the effect of the increasing number of students and the consequences of the Syrian crisis on Jordan educational sector.
