Amman, Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Abdul Nasser Abul-Basal, met Sunday with a Thai delegation headed by Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ulama (scholars) of Sheikh Ul-Islam in Thailand Prasan (Sharif) Sri Jarin and the accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, Abul-Basal said Jordan has received many Thai students to pursue their Islamic sciences and Arabic language studies at Jordanian universities.
As for imam training, the minister said his ministry is fully prepared to cooperate to train Thai mosque preachers and scholars in the Kingdom through King Abdullah II Institute for the Preparation and Rehabilitation of Imams and Preachers.
He also noted the ministry holds international workshops to highlight core axes of the Message of Amman inspired by the true teachings of Islam.
Sheikh Jarin, for his part, thanked Jordan for providing educational opportunities to Thai students to study at the country’s universities, as the two countries are keen to boost the “strong” bilateral ties in the various fields.
