Media Commission warns against publishing rumors, fake news

The Jordan Media Commission (JMC) on Wednesday warned the printed, audio and visual media outlets against publishing, broadcasting or circulating rumors and false news, due to their negative impacts on Jordan’s national security.

In a statement, the Commission called on various media outlets to convey the truth by obtaining information only from official sources.

“In light of the latest developments of the coronavirus outbreak, the JMC has intensified its follow-up measures on media content,” the statement said, adding that the Commission will take immediate legal actions against any media outlet that publishes or broadcasts rumors, news, reports, or videos that spread fear and panic among citizens, or affect the public security and stability.
