Jordan’s King: Abdul-Mahdi’s Resignation Has Taken Us Back Maybe Two Steps Back

Baghdad, Jordan’s King Abdullah II described the resignation of Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi as: “Things have gone back two steps.”

Abdullah II said in a televised statement, he believes in the ability of the Iraqi people to move towards the light at the end of the tunnel.

He added: “I believe in the Iraqi people and their ability to move towards the light at the end of the tunnel. Iraq has been moving strongly in a positive direction during the past two years, and I think the departure of the government has taken us back maybe two steps back.”

King Abdullah continued, he is sure that the leaders of Iraq will work to overcome it, and they must deal with the re-emergence of ISIS, because this will be a problem for Baghdad, and Arab leaders on their part must help the Iraqis to address this threat.

He continued, “The return and re-establishment of ISIS constitutes a threat to all of us not only in the region, but also to Europe and the rest of the world.”
