Jordan celebrates International Museum Day

Amman, Jordan shares the world the celebration of International Museum Day, which falls on 18th of May.

On the occasion, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Lina Annab said museums are the mirror of peoples and civilizations, which showcase the history of nations and the stories of civilizations.

The minister noted countries are building museums in recognition of their importance in the preservation of heritage and their role to refine the national, cultural identity of generations.

She said Jordan has about 35 museums, whose collectibles display the country’s rich and diverse history and civilizations.

The objective of International Museum Day is to raise awareness of the fact that museums are an important means of cultural exchange, enrichment of cultures and development of mutual understanding, cooperation and peace among peoples.
