Amman, The Jordan Medical Association (JMA) suspended the new medical pay scale in response to union and public reactions rejecting the scale.
The Professional Associations Council asked the JMA to withdraw the scale, which was published in the Official Gazette on Thursday, in an urgent meeting held on Saturday evening and chaired by JMA President Ali Obous.
After the meeting, Obous said the JMA council decided to suspend the scale and reconsider its fees and wages, taking into account citizens’ economic conditions.
“The JMA, as it preserves the doctor’s rights, doesn’t neglect in any way the rights of patients we serve and treat,” Obous added.
