Israeli waste pollute Lebanese waters

Large quantities of waste have been found off the coast of southern Lebanon with Hebrew writings on them, which constitutes an international crime against the environment and holds grave ramifications on the Lebanese marine life, the Lebanon Diving Center said Wednesday.

Director of the Center, Yousef Jundi, said in a statement that Minister of Environment, Fadi Jreissati, had submitted a suggestion to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to lodge a complaint with the United Nations, condemning environmental harm induced by waste that were found off the coast of Lebanon in January 2019, calling for delegating UN missions with estimating environmental harm and reparations.

“We believe that the waste were thrown in the sea by Israelis and had been carried by the water current to our shores,” he explained.
