Huawei launches first ICT academy in Jordan

Amman, The Balqaa Applied University (BAU) inaugurated the Huawei Academy for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) on its campus in the city of Salt, in cooperation with the world tech giant, Huawei.

According to a statement issued by the company on Monday, the academy aims to train about 500 students annually in the latest digital technologies, mainly cloud computing, and artificial intelligence, as the two partners look forward to turning the academy into a regional training center in the future.

The ICT Huawei academy, the first in Jordan, was officially launched in the presence of the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Jordan, Pan Weifang.

During the launching ceremony, Weifang said: We are proud of Huawei’s untiring initiative to contribute to the development of Jordanian society and harness all its potential to support the Jordanian digital economy.

In turn, President of the BAU, Dr. Abdullah Zoubi, said the cooperation between Huawei and the university is a milestone in the history of the ICT sector in Jordan, noting this step will open fresh horizons for the university’s students to gain knowledge and experience from Huawei.

For his part, Li Xiangyu (Space Lee), Vice President of Public Affairs and Communications, Huawei Middle East., said the company is looking forward to serving the Jordanian community by providing worldclass training and helping local talent to build a fully connected intelligent world.
