Foreign Minister holds meets heads of EU states’ diplomatic missions

Manama, Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, met online today with the heads of missions of European Union countries to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

 

In attendance was Undersecretary for International Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, and with  the participation of a number of Ambassadors of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the member states of the European Union.

 

The Minister praised the friendship and cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the European Union countries, noting the development and progress of the Bahraini-European relations at all levels.

 

Dr. Al-Zayani briefed the Ambassadors on the tireless efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain to confront the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic, noting that His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa directed to provide free treatment and medical care to all citizens and residents alike.

 

He praised the important role played by the National Taskforce for Combating the Coronavirus (COVID-19), headed by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa in this regard.

 

Regarding the signing of the declaration in support of peace between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the State of Israel, the Minister affirmed that this step reflects  Bahrain’s approach based on coexistence, tolerance, understanding, acceptance of others, respect for neighboring countries, and resolving conflicts and differences through constructive dialogue and by peaceful means based on the principles of the United Nations Charter.

 

He reiterated the Kingdom’s position on the issue, stressing that Palestinian-Israeli conflict must be resolved in accordance with the two-state solution, in order to achieve comprehensive peace that leads to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on decisions international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative.

 

For their part, the Heads of Missions of the European Union countries to the Kingdom of Bahrain praised the constructive cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the European Union in various fields. They also noted the efforts exerted by the Kingdom of Bahrain to achieve security, peace and prosperity in the region.
