Amman, The European Union (EU) fully supports the international nuclear deal with Iran and wants rival powers to avoid any further escalation on the issue, EU Foreign Affairs Commissioner, Federica Mugherini, said on Monday.
Ahead of the start of EU foreign ministers’ meetings in Brussels, Mugherini said the EU supports the nuclear agreement with Iran and today they have a tripartite meeting with the foreign ministers of France, Germany and Britain to discuss how to continue the agreement and to use the political tools for Iran’s return to its commitment to the agreement.
Earlier, Iran informed the ambassadors of Britain, France, Germany, China and Russia of the decision to “stop implementing certain commitments” within the framework of the agreement on the nuclear program. Iranian President Hassan Rowhani gave European countries 60 days to negotiate.
