Egypt to open Rafah crossing for Palestinian pilgrims

Egyptian authorities have decided to open the Rafah crossing between Egypt and the Gaza strip from Saturday until Tuesday to allow the passage of Palestinian pilgrims traveling to Saudi Arabia for the Hajj pilgrimage.

Egyptian authorities had decided to open the crossing for four days in order to allow 3,000 Palestinians to leave Gaza for Egypt in order to take a flight to Saudi Arabia for the annual Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca.

The decision comes to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people and in light of the humanitarian crisis besetting the besieged enclave.
