Dr. Zakir Naik Wins King Faisal Award 2015 (allAfrica.com)

The world renowned Islamic scholar and a dynamic international orator on Islam and comparative religion, Dr. Zakir Naik, has won the most recognised and prestigious award in the Muslim world – the 37th King Faisal International Prize for Service To Islam.
The King Faisal Award given for the category ‘Service to Islam’ is the most recognised and prestigious award in the Muslim world, similar to the ‘Nobel Prize’.
According to a statement sent to the Daily Observer, Dr. Zakir Naik was conferred this prestigious award, as announced by Makkah Governor Prince Khaled Al-Faisal (director general), and Abdullah Al-Othaimeen (secretary-general) of the King Faisal Foundation, at a glittering function in Riyadh on 3rd Feb. 2015.
The statement disclosed that Dr. Zakir Naik is the 2nd Indian to be conferred this award after Maulana Shaikh Sayyid Abul-Hasan Ali Al-Hasani Al-Nadawi who shared the award with Dr. Mohammad Natsir of Indonesia in 1980.
“The Award ceremony will be held under the auspices of King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz, Insha Allah, some time in the first week of March 2015, at Prince Sultan Grand Hall, Faisaliah Centre, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia,” the statement added.
The King Faisal International Prize is an annual award conferred on dedicated men and women with exceptional achievements in five categories – Service to Islam, Islamic Studies, Arabic Literature and Language, Science and Medicine – and whose contributions make a positive difference globally.
