Amman, Deputy Prime Minister, Rajai Muasher, and Deputy Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNPF), Dereje Wordofa, and an accompanying delegation discussed ways of bolstering cooperation between Jordan and the UN fund in addressing population challenges.
Muasher stressed that the government is keen to take economic plans and programs into consideration social security for unprivileged groups in the community.
He noted strategies and programs set by the government to enhance the youth’s participation in policymaking, referring to His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II’s speech before the General Assembly of the United Nations in 2017 regarding challenges facing the young generation.
He stressed that in spite of the high growth rates that Jordan achieved over the last decade, and its ability to create tens of thousands of job opportunities, more than half of these job opportunities were occupied by non-Jordanians.
Deputy Executive Director of the UNPF, Dereje Wordofa, lauded the government’s cooperation with UNFP’s work and programs, stressing that the UN agency is supporting Jordan to achieve sustainability; and improve the living standards of the youth and strengthen their participation in all domains of life as they are the leaders of the present and the future.
