CARE launches second awareness campaign for Syrian refugees

Amman, Under the theme “Your Permit, Your Protection”, CARE International in Jordan launched its second awareness campaign to highlight the importance of work permits for Syrian refugees.

A statement by CARE Thursday said that the new campaign, funded by the Ford Foundation and the Austrian Development Agency, builds upon the first one which focused on raising awareness among Syrian refugees on the importance of legal work through obtaining a work permit.

“It also aims at raising the awareness of Syrian refugees in regards to the latest instructions and regulations regarding obtaining a work permit and emphasizes the importance of legal work,” the statement added.

The new campaign seeks to communicate the information to the target audience to ensure a change is made in terms of Syrian refugee employment and to create linkages between labor market actors, and includes text messages, videos, brochures, and ads to be broadcasted through traditional and social media, the statement said.

It also informs and assists Syrian refugees in regards to obtaining work permits to ensure their access to more employment opportunities, guarantee their rights in the workplace, and contribute to increasing the economic participation of women and support them in securing a sustainable income.

CARE thanked its partners, namely the Ministry of Labor and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, for their efforts in supporting this campaign.
