Car bomb explodes in Afghanistan, killing 16

Amman, At least 16 people were killed and 40 injured in a car bomb explosion in the Afghani city of Kandahar, local authorities said on Tuesday.

Provincial Governor Spokesman, Daud Ahmadi, told reporters that a minivan parked in car workshops caught the attention of security forces. Large quantities of explosives were found in the vehicle, prompting police officers to try to defuse it, but unfortunately it detonated.

Civilians and security personnel, were among the victims, officials said, divulging no more detail to the incident. No one claimed responsibility to the attack yet.
