The Arab Parliamentary Union held this afternoon a session to discuss the final statement of the emergency conference, which convened in the Jordanian capital in support of the Palestinian cause.
Amendments were made to the final statement, most of which were proposed by House Speaker Nabih Berri, and focused on Jerusalem as the eternal capital of Palestine, with an emphasis on the necessity of final and firm adherence to the right of return to the Palestinians.
Berri stressed herein that the right of return comes in second place, in terms of importance, after Jerusalem. He also highlighted the need to use the word occupation instead of the state of Israel.
It is to note that the Parliamentary Union is scheduled to hold a session at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo upcoming March 6 and 7, during which the presidency of the Union will move from Jordan to the United Arab Emirates.
Meanwhile and on the sidelines of today’s Conference, Berri held talks with the Jordanian Senate Head, Samir Al-Rifai, and Jordanian Prime Minister, Omar Al-Razzaz, as well as a number of heads of parliaments and participating delegations.
