Bahrain Comic Con’s 5th Edition Sponsored by HH Shaikh Khalid


Manama, Under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, the fifth edition of the Bahrain Comic Con is set to take place on April 26 and 27 at the Bahrain International Circuit. It is expected to attract over 40,000 visitors.

The Bahrain Comic Con serves as a vibrant platform for showcasing comic books, films, television programmes, games, and more.

With a distinguished lineup of guests and celebrities from around the world, attendees will experience an unforgettable event while highlighting Bahrain on a global scale.

Among the guests are Paul Wight, known as “The Big Show” in WWE, Yuki Kaji, the renowned Japanese voice actor who participated in the famous anime “Attack on Titan,” John Terry, English football coach and former Chelsea player, Stephen Warbeck, the English actor known for his role as Mihawk in the anime series “One
Piece,” Ross Marquand, the American actor known for his leading roles in “The Avengers” and “The Walking Dead,” Matthew Davis, the beloved American actor known for his roles in “The Vampire Diaries” and “Legacies,” Mehdi Aouichaoui, an animator in “Dragon Ball” and “My Hero Academia,” Lucie Pohl, the talented voice actress behind the character Mercy in the game “Overwatch,” and Manu Bennett, the Australian actor known for his role as Deathstroke in the series “Arrow.”

In addition to the distinguished guest list, the Bahrain Comic Con will feature a special musical event on April 25th, headlined by the world-renowned singer Offsiet, who will visit the Kingdom of Bahrain for the first time. Separate tickets will be available for entry.

Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities, including exploring the designated shopping area, viewing the artists exhibition, competing in the e-gaming hall, enjoying shows in the cinema hall, indulging in delicious food at the food festival,
and engaging in Q and A sessions and autograph signings with all celebrities, providing fans the chance to meet their favorite stars.

Sultan of Oman sends written message to Tunisian President


Tunis, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman has sent a written message to President Kais Saied of the Republic of Tunisia.

The message deals with bilateral relations between the two countries and their peoples, Oman News Agency (ONA).

The message was handed over by Hilal Abdullah Al Sinani, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Republic of Tunisia when Nabil Ammar, Tunisia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, received him at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tunis today.

Abdullah bin Zayed, Pakistani counterpart discuss cooperation ties, strategic partnership


Abu Dhabi, Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a phone call with Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, during which they discussed bilateral relations and strategic partnership, as well as avenues to enhance them in a manner that serves the mutual interests of both nations and benefits their peoples.

The two sides reviewed the prospects for joint cooperation in a number of fields, including economic, trade, development, and other sectors that support the efforts of the two countries to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.

Shaikh Abdullah emphasised the strong and expanding historical ties between the UAE and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, highlighting the mutual keenness to reinforce these bonds and enhance opportunities for collaborative efforts within the framework of the strategic partnership between the two nations.

Finance Minister meets GFH Chairman and Group CEO


Manama, Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, the Minister of Finance and National Economy, received Abdulmohsen Rashed Al Rashed, the Chairman of GFH Financial Group, and Hisham Al Rayes, the Group CEO.

Shaikh Salman emphasised the pivotal role of the banking and finance sector in contributing to creating promising investment opportunities and driving economic growth. He highlighted the efforts of the kingdom to support the role of the sector, in line with the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the follow up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

Speaker meets Arab League Secretary General


Cairo, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary General of the Arab League, and Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, held a meeting at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo.

The Speaker is on a visit to Cairo where he leads a Council of Representatives delegation to Egypt to participate in the sixth meeting of the Arab Parliament, Presidents of Arab councils and parliaments.

Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal, Ambassador of Bahrain to Egypt, was present.

Aboul Gheit commended the efforts of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, in supporting Arab joint action.

He praised the efforts of HM the King in supporting the role of the Arab League, and his keenness on Arab coordination and integration, in order to ensure the safety and stability, and to support the Palestinian cause.

He pointed to the productive and positive results of the official discussions session, which was held last week, between HM King Hamad, and His Excellency Abdel Fattah
El Sisi, President of Egypt, in supporting and strengthening bilateral cooperation regarding the latest developments, and discussing the agenda of the 33rd Arab Summit, which will be hosted by Bahrain next May.

The Speaker expressed appreciation for the efforts made by the Arab League to enhance Arab cooperation and solidarity, defending Arab issues, and the efforts for a just and comprehensive peace for the Palestinian issue.

He affirmed the support of HM King Hamad, and the interest and follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in strengthening joint Arab action and unifying stances towards crucial issues.

He emphasised the readiness of Bahrain to host the 33rd Arab Summit, which will be held in Manama.

The Speaker noted the importance of coordination and integration between parliamentary diplomacy and Arab diplomacy to support Arab issues and interests, achieve the aspirations of its people, and the importance of unifying positions and over
coming all challenges.

BACA President praises Bahrain’s successful participation in 4th Gulf Cinema Festival


Manama, Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) President, received at the Pearling Path Visitor and Experience Centre, members of the Bahraini delegation to the fourth Gulf Cinema Festival, held in Saudi Arabia last week.

Directors who participated in the festival, Director Bassam Al Thawadi, member of the festival’s jury, and award-winning actress, Maryam Zeman, were present.

In a statement, BACA President expressed pleasure at the successes achieved by the delegation during the festival, praising the contributions of Bahraini artists, which reflected the advanced level reached by the cinematic movement in the Kingdom.

He underlined BACA’s commitment to supporting and encouraging cinematic talent in the Kingdom, highlighting the importance of the cultural and creative movement in promoting Bahrain’s cultural identity regionally and globally.

Several Bahraini films participated in the fourth Gulf Cinema Festival, including ‘The Sea Bride’, dir
ected by Mohammed Ateeq, ‘Close the Door!’, directed by Saleh Nass, the documentary film, ‘Sound of Feathers’, directed by Maryam Abdulghaffar, and the documentary film, ‘Vision of Promise-Salman bin Hamad’, directed by Bahraini Director Eva Daoud, in addition to “May Ward” (Rose Water) films, directed by Mahmoud Al Shaikh.

Bahraini artist Maryam Zeman won the ‘Best Actress Award’ for her role in the Bahraini film “May Ward” (Rose Water).

Northern Governor receives Ambassador of Japan


Manama, Ali bin Shaikh Abdulhussain Al Asfoor, Northern Governor, received Okai Asako, the newly appointed Ambassador of Japan to Bahrain.

Amal Isa Dawood Bu Chandal, Director of the Information and Follow-up Directorate at the Northern Governorate, attended the meeting.

The governor praised the strong bilateral ties and wished the ambassador success in enhancing economic and diplomatic relations.

He highlighted the significance of leveraging the existing growth opportunities, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and enhancing the training of the Bahraini workforce in Japanese factories and companies.

Al Asfoor expressed his ambition that Bahrain become a hub for Japanese companies in the region, and learn from their expertise in disaster management, particularly in volunteering for health cities programmes.

The ambassador expressed pride in working in Bahrain, emphasising her country’s commitment to enhance cooperation for common benefits.

She wished Bahrain further progress and pr
osperity.

HM King’s Media Advisor receives Middle East Operations at Director Gulf Madhyamam


Manama, Nabeel bin Yacoub Al Hamer, Advisor to His Majesty the King for Media Affairs, received Salim Ambalan, Middle East Operations Director at Gulf Madhyamam and Media One Group on the occasion of the newspaper’s silver jubilee in Bahrain and the gulf region.

Al Hamer congratulated the director on the silver jubilee, commending the newspaper’s achievements and contributions in highlighting Bahrain’s achievements, developmental gains and the kingdom’s environment of co-existence.

He also noted the newspaper’s efforts in enhancing cooperation between Bahrain and India and serving the Indian community by publishing updated regional and global news, wishing the newspaper further success.

Foreign Minister meets Omani counterpart


Muscat, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met in Muscat today with Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Humood Albusaidi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman.

The meeting during Minister Al Zayani’s visit to the Sultanate of Oman, which is part of a tour covering a number of Arab countries.

During the meeting, the two Ministers discussed the solid relations between the two countries and their peoples and reviewed means of enhancing cooperation across various fields and diplomatic coordination in line with the efforts of the Bahraini-Omani Joint Ministerial Committee, to serve common interests.

They also discussed regional developments and their implications on security and regional stability, as well as the continuous efforts at the political level to stop the war in the Gaza Strip, facilitate easy access of aid, and support the efforts for peace, security, and stability in the region.

The two sides also reviewed the ongoing preparations for holding the 33rd Arab
Summit in the Kingdom of Bahrain on May 16, and the consultation and coordination regarding the topics and issues on the agenda of the summit to promote joint Arab action to achieve peace, security and stability in the region and safeguard Arab national security.

Airport Passports Services ranked third globally in 2024 World Airline Awards


Manama, The Kingdom of Bahrain has achieved a new international milestone, as the Passports Services at the Bahrain International Airport has been ranked third globally among the 2024 World Airline Awards (Skytrax).

It won in the “Best Airport Passport Services” category after applying strict standards that include the efficiency and speed of procedures, ease of movement, the efficiency of passport staff in terms of receiving visitors, and the extent of travellers’ satisfaction.

The achievement is an international testimony to the excellence and leadership in the services provided by the Nationality, Passports, and Residence Affairs (NPRA) and its continuous keenness to enhance travellers’ experiences at the Bahrain International Airport. Bahrain ranked third after Singapore Changi Airport and Zurich International Airport in Switzerland.

Shaikh Hisham bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the Interior Ministry’s Undersecretary for NPRA, expressed his pride in the achievement, asserting dedication to providing the best
services for travellers via the Bahrain International Airport to promote Bahrain’s status as a leading regional centre in air transport.

He noted that the Airport Passports Services plays a significant role in facilitating travellers’ procedures and providing them with exciting travelling experiences. He hailed the fruitful cooperation between the NPRA and Bahrain Airport Services.

Skytrax World Airlines is a London-based consultancy founded in 1989. It operates an airline and airport review website and offers annual awards known as the Skytrax World Awards based on traveller reviews.
