2,456 new local Covid-19 cases, 25 deaths, recorded on Thursday-MoH

The Ministry of Health announced 2459 new Covid-19 cases, including 3 imported infections, were recorded in the Kingdom Thursday.

 

This all-time daily surge brings the total caseload to 33009 since the beginning of the pandemic, according to the media statement issued by the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health.

 

Meanwhile, 25 additional virus-related fatalities were recorded, bringing the death toll to 282, added the joint statement.

 

Of the local infections, 1071 cases were registered in the capital Amman governorate, 809 in Zarqa, 135 in Irbid, including 39 in Ramtha district, 103 in Balqa, 96 in Ajloun, 84 in Karak, 44 in Jerash, 29 in Ma’an, 25 in Aqaba, 25 in Tafila, 22 in Mafraq, and 13 in Madaba.

 

In addition, 3 external cases were recorded- 2 involving arrivals coming to the Kingdom, and 1 relates to a truck driver coming through the Omari Border Crossing, added the government.

 

Moreover, 99 patients have recovered in accredited hospitals, the statement noted, adding 27,648 Covid-19 laboratory tests were administered, bringing the cumulative count conducted since the start of the pandemic until now to 1517884.

 

In light of the continued surge of local cases, the Ministry called on the public to adhere to defense orders, follow safety and prevention measures, wear face masks, and avoid holding gatherings exceeding 20 people.

 

The ministry also urged citizens to use the (Safety) application for smartphones, which alerts users if they come into contact with a COVID-19 positive person, as well as “Sahtak” (your health) application, which provides users with the latest information and news related to COVID-19.
