‘Clean Up the World’ campaign launched in Aqaba

The Royal Marine Conservation Society of Jordan (JREDS) on Wednesday launched the “Clean up the World 2022” campaign in Aqaba, with 700 volunteers from national companies and institutions.

The campaign, which also kicked off in 130 countries, is a global social action program aimed at combating the global solid waste problem, and offers a good opportunity to participants to contribute towards the conservation of the environment.

In remarks at the launching ceremony, Chief Commissioner of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) Nayef Bakheet said that the campaign’s primary goal is to foster a societal culture of environmental cleanliness and sanitation, particularly in the marine environment, which attracts tens of thousands of tourists and diving enthusiasts to the Red Sea city.

Aqaba Governor Khaled Hajjaj emphasized the campaign’s goal of raising community awareness about reducing plastic waste that ends up in the sea.

“Organizing such initiatives is critical to having sustainable and pollution-free environmental resources in order to preserve tourist and archaeological sites, as well as marine natural heritage,” said JREDS Director Mohammed Tawaha.

In turn, Director General of Aqaba Port Marine Services Company (APMSCO), Dirk Wijnen, underlined the campaign’s importance in preserving biodiversity and ecological balance in the environment, which will eventually assist the concerned institutions in achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, particularly Goal 14: Life Below Water.

Fadeaway World

By Eddie Bitar View the original article to see embedded media. The Western Conference Finals is set as the Golden State Warriors and the Dallas Mavericks are set to go to battle after the Mavericks shockingly blew out the reigning Finalists, Phoenix Suns, in one of the most shocking Game 7’s in NBA history. Dallas certainly looked like a force in the West during the playoffs, as they took care of business against two very solid teams in the Utah Jazz and the Phoenix Suns. In many ways, nobody truly thought the Mavericks would have had a shot in the dark against either the Jazz or the Suns. Me…

Five Reasons the Mavs Will Beat the Warriors

Published by
Sports Illustrated

By Chris Herring As we advance to the conference finals, we have a rarity: There isn’t an odds-on favorite to win the NBA championship. The Warriors hold the best odds of the four remaining teams, perhaps because their track record of recent success with this core is so much more extensive than that of the other clubs. But even with that in mind, Golden State has its flaws—certainly enough to where I think there’s a good chance Luka Dončić and the Mavericks continue to shake things up by winning the Western Conference. So I’ll lay out my five reasons why I think Dallas makes it out of the West…

By Divij Kulkarni View the original article to see embedded media. The Philadelphia 76ers had a disappointing end to a season that showed a lot of promise after they swung a trade for James Harden at the deadline. They lost in the second round to the Miami Heat, with Joel Embiid’s injury issues slowing him down a fair bit and Harden being unable to step up before completely collapsing in the elimination game. Both those things have deflected some of the criticism that Doc Rivers has been getting throughout the season, and Daryl Morey confirmed later that Rivers would return to Philly as Head C…

Forget Stocks and NFTs, and Buy Sneakers

Published by
The Street

By Veronika Bondarenko Many rare sneaker models can resell used for five figures. If the word sneakers brings up images of the beaten-up shoes you wear to the gym, you probably won’t think of them and investment in the same sentence. Better think stocks, bonds or even NFTs if you’re looking for something particularly volatile. But sneaker collecting, or securing extremely rare shoe models and selling them at a profit, is lucrative if somewhat niche business — a number of in-demand kicks regularly sell for five figures. “Streetwear has exploded in popularity over recent years with collectors an…

2022 NFL Draft: Route-Runners on the Rise

Published by
Athlon Sports

By Athlon Sports Here’s a look at the increasing impact savvy route-runners are having in the NFL and which wide receivers in the 2022 draft class could be the next to have a significant impact. In his first college football game in 2018, Rondale Moore sprinted into a jet sweep from the Purdue 24-yard-line. The true freshman accelerated toward the home sideline and then planted his left foot as if it was an American flag on the moon. A Northwestern defender swiveled helplessly, doubled over in pursuit, and the crowd roared. “Oooh,” marveled a Big Ten Network commentator, and Moore was gone — f…
